It seems that fate brought me to Huston-Tillotson University.  Born and bred in New Orleans, Louisiana, I taught at Southern University at New Orleans for thirteen years.  Hurricane Katrina changed everything, and I washed here to Austin, Texas. 

Since joining the English faculty, I have established the Huston-Tillotson University Film Society, as well as initiating a new course offering, Literature through Film.  I love world travel, scuba diving (I am Padi Dive master), gourmet dining (I write restaurant reviews); Maya culture fascinates me (I have driven to Guatemala twice).  In 1990 while living in Chiapas, Mexico I helped write & film a documentary, Life and Death Among the Highland Maya of Southern Mexico.  In 1993, while still in Chiapas I witnessed the Zapatista Uprising on a first hand basis and recorded the war in an article, “The Insurrection in Chiapas.” 

My education includes a B.A. from Randolph-Macon College, a year of graduate work at the University of New Orleans and a Masters Degree from the University of Virginia.  My academic specialties include Film, Multicultural Studies, Literature, and English Composition.
