Dean Joseph Jones welcomes you to the College of Arts and Sciences. You are invited to browse and observe the academic offerings, faculty achievements, student activities and special programs that characterize the College as a premier academic unit at Huston-Tillotson University (HT). The College’s degree offerings are provided through four departments: Humanities and Fine Arts, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Teacher Education and Kinesiology. Through the Core Curriculum students are provided instruction in the basic academic skills that are required for success in the major degree areas. The Core Curriculum program also enables students to develop their writing and speaking skills through active involvement in studio writing and public speaking classes.
Seventy percent of the College’s faculty holds terminal degrees earned in prestigious universities in the United States and abroad. Many faculty members pursue post-doctoral studies yearly to remain abreast of cutting edge knowledge in their academic disciplines. This is beneficial to our students who receive the latest information in their degree areas
Students in the College are taught to solve problems through inquiry and discovery, followed by logical reasoning and analysis. This process is encapsulated in HT’s research day activities in which students present their findings based on research projects pursued in independent studies, internships and portfolio classes.
After reviewing HT’s programs and services, you are invited to visit the University and receive additional information by meeting some of our faculty, students and staff.
